Conor McGregor reveals staggering amount Proper Twelve whiskey has made in ONE YEAR

Conor McGregor is a very wealthy man.

In fact, Forbes make The Notorious the 12th richest celebrity, and fourth in the list of sportsmen - behind only Floyd Mayweather, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo - with a worth of $99million.

But the UFC legend could be about to leap up the rankings after he revealed how much money his whiskey has generated.

McGregor has been an energetic walking billboard for his liquor brand Proper Twelve since launching it seven months ago, after a sold out dry run.

And the founder's showmanship for selling has paid dividends, almost literally, as the first year of has generated eye-watering sales of $1billion, or £763.6million.

McGregor gleefully wrote on Instagram : "Over $1b generated in Whiskey sales in my first year! Like it or not, there is a new King in town! Proper Whiskey, liquid sunshine!"

The alcohol has been widely praised for its taste.

According to the Proper Twelve website: "Through much trial and error, they worked together to create a blend of sweet Irish grain and single malt Irish whiskey.

"The result, a smooth balanced whiskey with hints of vanilla, honey-like sweetness and toasted wood."

Conor McGregor finally pays off 15-year debt - but it won't be cashed in

At the time of launch, McGregot vowed to donate some of the proceeds from the whiskey to charity

He said: “First responders all over the world are the unsung heroes who act with courage and answer the call of duty every day for people in need,” McGregor said.

“I have great respect for these men and women. The company has committed to donate $5 for every case sold to local first responder organisations/charities, up to $1 million annually. The organisations/charities will be identified for each state and country around the world and donations will go directly to specific states and countries where sales take place."
