Conor McGregor returns to training at Dublin gym following UFC fight promise

Conor McGregor has returned to training at John Kavanagh's Straight Blast Gym in Dublin as he works towards a UFC return in 2023.

The Notorious has not fought in over a year since breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier in Las Vegas.

McGregor suffered a setback in training before landing a film role alongside Jake Gyllenhaal in a remake of Road House and is planning to make his octagon return next year.

But it looks like the former two-weight champion will have to wait until late May at the earliest to fight again after it emerged he has not been drug tested for more than 12 months and is no longer in the USADA testing pool. Fighters must have been available for testing for six months in order to be able to fight - unless given an exception.

However, McGregor now appears to be back training in Dublin after a busy few months that saw him enjoy sunny weather in southern France, Majorca, Ibiza and most recently the Dominican Republic.

Sergey Pikulskiy, McGregor's wrestling coach, shared a photo with the 34-year-old, who recently shared off his trademark beard.

Coach Kavanagh was among those to comment on the snap, writing: "Whos the youngfella?"

Bellator fighter Sinead Kavanagh added: "Champ is back."

Speaking in an Instagram Live recently on his UFC return, McGregor said: "I'm going to be back soon, hopefully. Early 2023, I'm aiming for. Sometime in the first quarter. That will give me a good couple of months. Once I wrap this (filming) in a couple of days and get the camp going... good couple of months and get going."
