Conor McGregor's recent retirement announcement is legitimate, according to his SBG Ireland teammate James Gallagher.
The Notorious, 30, announced that he was quitting MMA earlier in the week, but a lot of fans are dubious after a similar declaration in 2016.
Gallagher, 22, and McGregor are close friends and train together, and 'the Strabanimal' even thanked McGregor in a recent Instagram post for his help in contract negotiations for the UFC's top rival Bellator MMA, where he signed a six-fight deal this week.

And speaking to Dublin Live after announcing his return to the cage at Bellator London on June 22nd, Gallagher said: "He [Conor McGregor] is retired, he's done.
"I wish him the best and I hope the next few years are as entertaining as the last few have been for him.

"He's a smart man and he's helped me a lot in negotiations behind the scenes, but Conor's done."
Gallagher announced earlier this week that he has signed a lucrative multi-fight contract for the American promotion after selling out the 3 Arena for his comeback in February, and he will return to the cage again this Summer at London's iconic SSE Arena Wembley.
