Conor McGregor responds to Ireland Simpsons Fans meme about him

Conor McGregor couldn't help but laugh after an Ireland Simpsons Fans meme about him caught his attention on social media.

The Dubliner is less than two weeks away from his return to the octagon against Dustin Poirier at UFC 257 in Abu Dhabi.

He's busy fine-tuning his preparations for the eagerly anticipated rematch, but saw the funny side of a recent Ireland Simpsons Fans joke.

The popular Facebook group boasts over 150,000 members as fans share jokes and memes about Ireland and world news through the classic TV show.

Group admins have also set up a Twitter account where the best member posts are shared on the platform, and the Notorious one got involved.

The meme poked fun at McGregor's famous 'Billi strut' Octagon walk, comparing it to that of show character Ralph Wiggum - leading to McGregor's response.

McGregor laughed: "Love it! Big fan of the entire Wiggum family here. Up the Wiggums".

Meanwhile, Dustin Poirier was caught off guard when asked if he was prepared to kill Conor McGregor in their fight later this month.

The pair will clash at UFC 257 in the early hours of January 24, reports The Mirror.

Over six years ago McGregor got the better of Poirier but he now has a chance to level the score on Dana White's Fight Island.

The American, who has a 26-6 record, was asked on stand-up comedian Theo Von’s latest podcast if he was prepared to kill McGregor to ensure victory.

The question though clearly came as a surprise as he responded: “I mean, I don’t want to kill anybody.

“That’s not a goal. I don’t really wish that on anybody.”

Von went on to admit that he shouldn't have asked the question as the pair laughed it off.

Nevertheless, Poirier is confident that their fight will not end in a victorious return for the Irishman.

“I envision a lot of different things happening and the fight going different ways, but at the end I always envision me winning,” he said.

“Getting back on that long flight home with the win, come and see my daughter. That feels so good you know.

“Whatever it takes to make that a reality, I'm willing to do so let's just go.”
