Conor McGregor reacts to Charles Oliveira’s UFC 262 title win, teases fight

Conor McGregor appears to be targeting new champ Charles Oliveira after UFC 262.

Oliveira (31-8 MMA, 19-8 UFC) claimed the vacant lightweight title Saturday when he earned a second-round TKO over Michael Chandler in the headliner at the Toyota Center in Houston.

McGregor (22-5 MMA, 10-3 UFC) is currently booked for a trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 on July 10 in Las Vegas, and if he emerges with the win he could be in perfect position to go after Oliveira’s newly minted belt.

After the conclusion of Oliveira’s win, he hinted at that being his exact plan (via Twitter):

Congrats to Olivera on becoming the 11th UFC lightweight champion.
Wonder who Twelve is…

Could McGregor get a chance to regain the 155-pound belt? UFC president Dana White said post-fight at the press conference that he’ll have to see how the trilogy bout with Poirier plays out before making a decision.
