Conor McGregor reacts aggressively after hat is thrown at UFC star in Ibiza

Conor McGregor was not impressed when a fan threw a hat at him in Ibiza, angrily stomping on it and mocking the culprit.

The former two-weight UFC champion has been training intensely for his Octagon return, which is slated for the end of the year or the start of 2023. But he has taken some time off to celebrate his birthday with pals in the Balearic islands, and was spotted by fans while partying in a private area of a packed club.

One fan threw him a hat, which the Irishman didn't appreciate, picking it up and stomping on it before mocking the person who threw it. He was clearly irked by the gesture, which saw him hit in the chest before he turned around and mouthed something at the guilty party.

McGregor held a lavish birthday celebration to celebrate turning 34, inviting friends and family to come to Ibiza for a glamorous private party. He chartered a plane for pals, including former UFC star Paddy Holohan and striking coach Owen Roddy, who flew in last week to join the celebrations with he and wife Dee.

He will likely return to training soon and will begin the cut to get down to 170lb so he can compete at welterweight when he steps back into the Octagon. McGregor has set his sights on Kamaru Usman's welterweight title but he is believed to be tipping the scales at around 190lb.

McGregor gruesomely broke his leg last summer in a trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier and has been out of action for over a year. After a rapid recovery back to walking around unassisted, his progress briefly stalled earlier this year, but the Irishman is now back in MMA training at SBG Ireland HQ under coach John Kavanagh.

He has been spotted at the gym on a number of occasions after missing the estimated timeline for a return by a few months. McGregor was seen training with Bellator's Darragh Kelly in his first session back and appears to be attending Kavanagh's gym more and more frequently.

“He’s healthy, happy, and it’s great to have him back,” Kavanagh told BBC Sport of McGregor after his return to training. “The last few sessions in the gym here were MMA-orientated, he’s got the all-clear for that now. He did a great session [earlier last week], we got some great rounds in. He hasn’t lost a beat and was looking great.

“Trust me, I got to have a bit of a wrestle with him last night and I felt it. When that silverback arm goes around your neck there’s a bit of an extra squeeze there, so, he’s very, very strong at the moment. But look, when we get to the stage of looking at weight classes and opponents there’s nobody more professional than Conor at making weight and it will all be done properly.”
