Conor McGregor has posted a defiant message just hours after his UFC 264 loss to Dustin Poirier.
The Notorious suffered a broken leg in the first round of the main event bout and is set to undergo surgery on Sunday evening Irish time.
Taking to Instagram on Sunday morning, McGregor posted a photo of himself on a stretcher with the comment: "You need people like me."
The Dubliner was rushed to hosital following the fight, which he started aggressively by targeting Poirier with leg kicks, but the American quickly capitalised after seeming to hear the McGregor’s leg crack during one exchange.
Poirier took his opponent to the ground, where he dominated before the fighters returned to their feet.
Both swung and missed and McGregor stepped back before his leg collapsed beneath him.
McGregor somehow survived until the end of the round when the bout was stopped.
It was a dramatic conclusion to the fight which followed their January rematch, with Poirier calling his opponent a “dirtbag” after the fight.
The American said: "He did hit me with a good cross like the last fight. I was a little bit buzzed but my legs were still there. The take down was easy. He was putting his fingers in his gloves and pulling me down to try the up kicks. This guy is a dirtbag man."
On the trash talk, which McGregor continued with after the fight, Poirier added: "There is no holds barred with the trash talk, right. But murder is something you don't clown around with and there is no coming back from that.
"This guy was telling me he was going to murder me and all kinds of stuff and saying he was going to kill me and I was going to leave here in a coffin. You don't talk to people like that. I hope this man gets home safely to his beautiful family."
McGregor continued to verbally abuse Poirier after the bout, telling Joe Rogan: "I was boxing the bleeding head off him, kicking the bleeding leg off him, usual s**** he dived to close the distance.
"This is not over! If I have to take this outside with him it's on outside I don't give a b*******.
"There was no check [on a leg kick], there was not one of them I checked."
McGregor reiterated his claim that Poirier's wife Jolie 'slid in his DMs', adding: "Your wife is in my DMs, hey baby, hit me back up I'll chat to you later on, I'll be at the after party; The Wynn night club baby."
