Conor McGregor next on the horizon for Anthony Pettis - if he beats Nate Diaz, says manager Abraham Kawa

Anthony Pettis has had his hat thrown into the cage to be Conor McGregor's next UFC opponent by his manager.

'Showtime' matches up with Nate Diaz at UFC 241 in Diaz's first fight since August 2016.

Pettis has been linked with McGregor in the past, claiming he was offered a fight with the Crumlin man in July before the former "champ-champ" suffered a hand injury.

And after a spectacular knockout of Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson caught Diaz's attention, Pettis' manager Abraham Kawa believes that if the former champion can ride his hot hand to a win over the returning Stockton native, then there's only one option for his following fight.

"Even Conor fighting Khabib [Nurmagomedov], I don’t think that’s the fight," Kawa told MMA Junkie.

"I actually don’t want to see that fight right now.

"Maybe after a while, yes. But right now I think Conor vs. Anthony is the fight.

"I’m looking at it as (if) Anthony beats Nate, and I think Conor is next on the horizon.

"The better man is going to win, and I think if Anthony does what he’s supposed to do, he will win.

"I think next in line should be Conor. I don’t think there should be anyone else."
