Conor McGregor news: Notorious must 'get a grip on life' says UFC contender Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone

Conor McGregor must 'get a grip on life' and 'man up' by accepting a fight with UFC Lightweight contender Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone, according to the American MMA star.

The pair have been rumoured to fight for a long time, but Cerrone had told media members during the week that he had given up on chasing a bout with the Irish former champion.

But on Saturday night, he called out McGregor in an interview with ESPN after a big win over number four ranked Al Iaquinta, saying: "Dude, get a grip on life and let's go, come on.

"Put your bank account against my bank account... He'll probably see my bank account and go 'I just spent that at the bar!'"

He even offered a potential date for the fight, saying he would be ready to get back in the cage in two months for a July 4 weekend bash in Las Vegas.

"If he wants to come back in July, we're ready," he said in another interview with TSN. "Fourth of July weekend, I love international fight weekend.

"I think it would make perfect sense to get Conor and me on it [the UFC 239 card on July 6th]."

He also said in the cage that should McGregor not want to fight him in July, he would like a bout with undefeated Lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov.

However, that would seem unlikely, with Khabib currently touted to fight interim champ Dustin Poirier in September.

McGregor is set to meet with UFC President Dana White in Los Angeles soon to discuss his future within the organisation.
