Conor McGregor news: Notorious laughs at Floyd Mayweather's gloves during fan event amid coronavirus fears

Conor McGregor saw the funny side as Floyd Mayweather wore gloves to an event with fans amid coronavirus fears.

A McGregor fan posed for a photo with the boxing legend while wearing a t-shirt that replicated Mayweather's 'The Money Team' logo, but with 'The McGregor Team' emblazoned across it.

Jason Field tweeted the picture to the UFC superstar, who found Mayweather's latex gloves amusing, along with his supporter's cheeky t-shirt stunt.

The Dubliner tweeted a laughing emoji with the caption: "Hahah brilliant. The gloves."

'Money' was mixing with UK fans at a meet-and-greet in Blackpool and took precautions while chatting to supporters and posing for pictures as coronavirus cases continue to rise across Europe.

The virus has infected more than 110,000 people worldwide, with the number of deaths climbing to almost 4,000.

Meanwhile, nearly 300 people have tested positive for it in the UK.

Rumours of a potential rematch have never disappeared since Mayweather's 2018 win in McGregor's  pro boxing debut. McGregor is confident they will meet again.

He said: “I done phenomenal in that bout. And the only reason I lost that bout was because I prepared for a back-footed Philly shell style of opponent. And when the fight was like that, I was picking him apart.

“Then, he came forward and I wasn’t sinking into my shots like I am now with my boxing coaches, guys who are drilling specific boxing things into me again. I know I beat Floyd if we rematch – when we rematch.

“He’s not going to do a mixed martial arts fight like it was supposed to be! It was supposed to be me boxing and then we’ll do a mixed martial arts bout.

“That’s what was said. It wasn’t written, but it was a verbal agreement, right. Obviously, that’s not gonna happen.

“I’m not even going to push him on that either. But I would like to box him, that would be a good rematch.”

Mayweather retired after beating McGregor and insists any comeback must be lucrative.

He said: “We talked about the Conor McGregor fight, we talked about the Khabib fight.

“For myself, the number is $600m. If I’m going to go out there and risk it, it’d have to be worth it.”
