Conor McGregor news: Notorious has father and son for company as he hits the road in training session

Conor McGregor had his father and son for company as he took his training out onto the road.

The UFC star looked fighting fit as he ran in the Irish sunshine, with his dad Tony following behind on a bike that had Conor Junior in the back seat.

And the trio were also followed along the tree-lined road by the family dog Hugo.

McGregor, 31, said on Instagram: "Trí ghlúin de MacGhregóir agus ár madra Hugo" (Three generations of McGregor and our dog Hugo).

The Notorious has been spending the lockdown with his partner Dee Devlin and their children Conor Junior, 3 and Croia, 1, in their plush mansion in Straffan, Kildare.

And the fighter has been active in the fight against Covid-19, donating over €1million worth of personal protective equipment to Irish hospitals to help battle the virus.

It comes as Daniel Cormier had said that McGregor versus Nate Diaz is the only fight that “makes sense”, says Daniel Cormier.

The former UFC heavyweight champion has called for the trilogy fight between the pair to take place this summer.

While Justin Gaethje and Khabib Nurmagomedov will wait to face each to unify the lightweight title after the American won the interim title against Tony Ferguson at UFC 249.

"If Khabib's fighting Gaethje in September, Conor fights in July vs 'Big Nate', 'Nasty Nate', the third fight," Cormier told Ariel Helwani on ESPN's DC and Helwani.

"This is the one. It's the only one that makes sense on Fight Island.”

McGregor and Diaz met for the first time in 2016 following an injury to then lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos which ruled him out of a clash with The Notorious.

Diaz famously stepped up to replace the champion and submitted McGregor in the second round.

McGregor's revenge came later that same year with a decision victory over Diaz in August.

The pair have continued to attack each other on social media, with the Dubliner recently telling his rival, 'shut your eyes and sign the contract'.

McGregor has also targeted Justin Gaethje, Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson with social media barbs, leaving the door open to a summer clash with a number of potential opponents.

If a fight between Gaethje and Khabib cannot take place during the coronavirus pandemic, McGregor looks most likely to replace Khabib and face Gaethje for the interim lightweight title.

A potential welterweight clash between McGregor and the holder of the BMF title - Jorge Masvidal - is another possibility.

The two have been involved in heated trash talk since Masvidal's victories over Ben Askren and Nate Diaz.

A trilogy clash between McGregor and Diaz would be a major box-office success and could put the victor in line for a title shot at lightweight or welterweight.
