Conor McGregor, Max Holloway or Jose Aldo: Who’s the greatest UFC featherweight champ of all time?

UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway will look to make his third successful title defense Saturday night when he meets Frankie Edgar in the main event of UFC 240.

Holloway, who’s just 27, is coming off a loss in his last fight, a failed bid at the interim lightweight in a rematch with Dustin Poirier, to snap a 13-fight winning streak. But in fairness, it’s worth repeating that it took place at 155 pounds. Holloway aims to get right back on track tonight in the division he’s ruled since June 2017.

With Holloway in the spotlight, we figured now was the right time to ask for our Daily Debate: Who is the greatest featherweight champion in UFC history?

It comes down to three choices: Holloway, Jose Aldo or Conor McGregor.

If your criteria is head-to-head results, well then McGregor beat both Aldo and Holloway, who also beat Aldo (twice). But if your criteria puts an emphasis on champion, then consider the fact that Aldo made nine title defenses while beating the best the division had to offer during a six-year title reign that began in WEC; Holloway, as mentioned, is going for his third defense at UFC 240; McGregor left the division after he won the title from Aldo in 2015 and never defended the belt.

So is this a complicated or easy answer? The Daily Debate results would seem to indicate the former (via Twitter):
