Conor McGregor makes vow as he hits the pads for first time since horror injury

Conor McGregor promised "I'll be back" as he hit the pads for the first time since his horror leg break.

The 33-year-old is edging closer to full fitness after fracturing his tibia in a loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 back in July.

Posting a long workout video on his Instagram, McGregor looked in great shape as he threw a series of combinations.

He wrote: "First time back on the pads! What a buzz! Let’s go team @mcgregorfast!

“Like my good friend @schwarzenegger says, ‘I’ll be back, b*****s!’ Back with a vengeance!

“Thank you to all my doctors and my team for getting me this far so soon after surgery! There is work to be done but doing work is what I’m known for.

“Strap yourselves in for the greatest comeback in sports history! #champchampppvbillionaireking”

Back in Ireland after spending time in Italy and America, McGregor is looking to get his UFC career back on track after two successive losses to Poirier.

McGregor he will watch from the sidelines as Poirier challenges for the 155lb title against champion Charles Oliveira on December 11.

Since beating Eddie Alvarez in 2016 to become the lightweight champion, McGregor's only win in the UFC was his 40-second demolition of Donald Cerrone.
