Conor McGregor news: 'Former' UFC fighter lays down bizarre challenge to Hollywood 'actress' Mark Wahlberg in bid to get shares

Conor McGregor has set down an odd challenge to Hollywood 'actress' Mark Wahlberg for his UFC shares.

The Notorious, who announced his retirement earlier this week, put down the challenge suggesting the pair fight with the winner taking home Wahlberg's chunk of the UFC.

Conor McGregor retirement completely legit according to teammate Gallagher as he praises star for help with new mega-contract

The big-time actor has yet to reply to the challenge - but previously said he'd be happy to give the Crumlin man part of his stake before later rescinding the offer.

McGregor took to Twitter last night challenging the actor saying: "I’ve decided to challenge Hollywood actress Mark Wahlberg next. A fight for all the shares!"

The tweet has led to fans speculating the star's retirement may be an attempt to gain part-ownership.

Earlier this month McGregor said he had no issue going back on the cards - but only if he could get a cut of the brand.

He said: ""If they want me to push that and I have no problem with pushing that, give me my rightful shares in the UFC company. That’s all I ask.

"You can put me on the first fight of ESPN+, no problem ... let's see how it goes ... but I'm still prepared and ready to fight."

Despite this, his SBG teammate James Gallagher claims the retirement is completely legitimate telling Dublin Live "he's done".

He said: "He [Conor McGregor] is retired, he's done.

Conor McGregor retires: What happened last time the Notorious announced his 'retirement' in 2016

"I wish him the best and I hope the next few years are as entertaining as the last few have been for him.

"He's a smart man and he's helped me a lot in negotiations behind the scenes, but Conor's done."
