Conor McGregor is 'impossible to respect' as a person, says Khamzat Chimaev

Conor McGregor is 'impossible to respect' as a person despite his achievements inside the Octagon.

That's according to UFC sensation Khamzat Chimaev, who believes the Dubliner's actions outside the sport don't warrant his respect.

The rising star has a frosty relationship with the Notorious one, which can be traced back to McGregor's bitter rivalry with Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The Swedish welterweight - who shares the same faith as Nurmagomedov - has previously taken issue with trash talk levelled at the Russian by McGregor and has now offered his brief opinion on the Dubliner.

“Yes, he achieved everything in the UFC – he was a champion in two weight classes,” said Chimaev on Zuba TV.

“This I respect with him. But it is impossible to respect him as a person.”

Chimaev previously claimed that he flew over to Ireland in 2018 looking to beat up the SBG star, with the 27-year-old's feelings towards McGregor no secret over the last few weeks.

But Chimaev could look to take their hostilities to the Octagon in the future as he prepares to make his return to the cage this weekend.

The 9-0 star takes on Li Jingliang at UFC 267 after Covid-19 halted his meteoric rise through the ranks in 2020.

A sensational run saw him rack up a record three stoppage finishes in just 66 days last summer as he prepared to step up a level to take on Leon Edwards.

But as complications with Covid-19 recovery set him back, he took an extended break and is now back looking to continue his rise through the 170-pound ranks.
