Conor McGregor invited to Real Madrid training by Sergio Ramos

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has invited former UFC champion Conor McGregor to train with this season’s La Liga winners.

McGregor, who was the UFC’s first simultaneous two-weight titleholder, posted a series of Instagram clips of himself playing football last week.

The caption on the post read “What do you think @sergioramos?” and the Spain international soon replied, writing: “Top class, mate! Fancy a training session at Real Madrid? More than welcome to join us anytime.”

Ireland’s McGregor, 32, in turn replied: “My brother, thank you! The next time I am in Madrid I would be honoured.”

McGregor announced his retirement from MMA yet again this year, despite earlier declaring that he wanted a “season” consisting of three fights in 2020.

In January, McGregor defeated Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone via first-round TKO, stopping the American in just 40 seconds.

He had been rumoured to follow that bout with a clash against Justin Gaethje, who has since won the UFC interim lightweight title.

Real Madrid secured their own championship this month, winning La Liga for the first time since 2017.

Ramos’ side finished five points clear of second-placed rivals Barcelona.
