Conor McGregor hits out at Khabib Nurmagomedov and referee Herb Dean in Twitter rant

Conor McGregor has hit out at Khabib Nurmagomedov more than nine months after their UFC 229 fight.

McGregor took to social media in the early hours of Sunday morning to reignite a war of words with the Russian and also had a go at referee Herb Dean.

McGregor said: "You check on the fighter that was illegally kneed to the head on the ground. Not get into a game of trying to prove the knee was legal with the fighter who committed the assault.

"Herb should have checked on Khabib's eyeball after I kneed it full whack from bottom as well. I used the mount defense leg as a spring board right into the eye socket. But I was to crafty with it and got away Scotty. I call it the big poppa pump into the eyeball. And your brothers.

"Herb my man he’s tryna sniff my jock strap here it’s f***ing round 1. Stand this s*** up. Pussy fighter. Panic panic. We all saw you panic s*** yourself on the back of that bus. Riddled in panic. I might actually be the Riddler instead."

McGregor's comments come as Dana White opened the door on a rematch between the Crumlin man and Nurmagomedov.

The UFC President said: “It would be a massive fight and it’s absolutely possible, yes.

“I think McGregor is gonna come back at the beginning of next year. So, realistically, all these guys are looking at September to see what happens with Khabib and Poirier.

"After that fight plays out, I think there’s gonna be a lot of movement going on.”

White said the landscape of the whole division is exciting when he spoke with Rich Eisen on Thursday.

“It’s a very interesting division because you have Khabib, you have Tony Ferguson, Conor McGregor, Donald Cerrone’s in the mix, Justin Gaethje - there’s just so many unbelievable fights in that weight class and Khabib keeps talking about fighting Georges St. Pierre again.

“St-Pierre retired but when St-Pierre retired, he retired basically saying I won’t if I can fight Khabib. So there’s so many different, crazy, interesting things that we can do at that weight class.”
