Conor McGregor hints that a Notorious documentary sequel is in the works at Netflix

Conor McGregor has teased a possible sequel to his hit Netflix documentary Conor McGregor: Notorious.

The film, released in 2017, charts the career of the Irish MMA star from claiming benefits and living in his mum's spare room with his girlfriend Dee to claiming multiple championship belts and becoming one of the most recognisable athletes in the world.

The documentary primarily focuses on McGregor's historic win over Brazilian rival Jose Aldo in 2015 and his two bouts with Nate Diaz a year later.

Now it looks as though a follow-up film could be on the way, with McGregor, 32, sharing a picture to his Instagram stories which appears to suggest that Netflix is set to release a sequel to the 2017 documentary.

Alongside the snap he wrote: “Thank you Netflix! Excited for the sequel.”

Although the streaming company have yet to reveal what the next McGregor doc will focus on, fans believe that the sequel could follow the Dubliner's preparation for the "Money Fight" with Floyd Mayweather.

Back in 2019, McGregor's trainer John Kavanagh said he had been interviewed for a Netflix documentary which will chronicle the Crumlin man's megafight with the champion boxer in Las Vegas.

He also revealed that the film would include never-before-seen footage of a controversial sparring session between McGregor and boxer Paulie Malignaggi prior to the Notorious' showdown with Mayweather.

"I think there's something being released on Netflix soon," Kavanagh told the Joe Rogan Experience.

"As far as I'm aware, I did an interview for it recently.

"It's a three-part documentary that's going to be on Netflix soon, so people will be able to make up their own minds about it."

Malignaggi was left fuming after McGregor's posted videos of him apparently ending up on the canvas during the sparring session with the Dubliner.

The American has fervently disputed this, claiming he easily had the better of McGregor during their time in the ring.

McGregor went on lose his professional boxing debut against Mayweather - a fight that recorded the second highest pay-per-view buy rate in history.

McGregor was recently spotted enjoying some downtime in Dubai following his UFC 257 loss to Dustin Poirier last month.

His defeat to American Poirier was his second in his last three fights in the UFC - but it was still another huge payday for the Crumlin man.

McGregor now looks set to face Poirier for a third time later this year.

Speaking ahead of UFC 258, Dana White said: "They both want it.

"So when you’ve got two guys who want the trilogy as bad as those two do, we try to make it happen. It’ll happen this summer."
