Conor McGregor 'has a chance' but should lose in rematch with Khabib Nurmagomedov, says UFC star Jon Jones

If Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov ever come face-to-face inside the cage again,  Jon Jones' money is on Khabib.

Following McGregor's win over Donald Cerrone there have been rumours that the Notorious one could get the rematch he so desperately wants against the undefeated Russian.

And even if that rematch was to come to fruition after The Eagle takes on Tony Ferguson in April, the UFC light heavyweight champ doesn't see it going any different than the first time around.

“I typically don’t go against wrestlers, if you were asking me as a betting man,” Jones told TMZ.

“Wrestlers have the power to dictate where the fight goes – whether it’s going to be a standing match, or whether he’s going to take him to the ground and make it a jiu-jitsu match.

"I think the cards are always kind of in Khabib’s hands. Conor definitely has a chance. But if I would put my money on it, I’m definitely going with Khabib, for sure.”

It comes after Nurmagomedov's manager labelled McGregor a scumbag as he insisted that he and his client have no interest in arranging a rematch against the Dubliner.

Ali Abdelaziz says the only chance they could fight again would be if they met in the street.

He told ESPN: "The only chance this fight could happen is in the street," he said during Saturday's UFC 247 event. "(McGregor would) have to do something spectacular. He's s***, you understand?

"Conor McGregor is one of the biggest stars because he's one of the biggest scumbags. Let's be real, we don't like this guy. We're never gonna like him.

"Probably every time we see him, there's gonna be problems. He said things about family, things about religion, things about race. He crossed the line... you can't cross the line with (Khabib)."

Khabib is set to fight Tony Ferguson on April 18, but Abdelaziz thinks McGregor should focus on other opponents even if his client is victorious.

"Conor needs to earn things," he continued. "He was a champion. He needs to earn things. Khabib really, really wants to make him earn it. It doesn't matter, because what he says".
