Conor McGregor hails 'incredible progress' after fan tells inspirational story

Conor McGregor has praised a fan who reached out to share his "incredible progress" over the past two years.

The UFC star shared a post by the fan, who posted a throwback picture alongside the Dubliner.

The image of the men was taken in a gym promoting the FAST method of training which was developed by McGregor.

It is captioned: "This photo is two years old. The week after it was taken is the last time I was in a wheelchair - 2 years walking NINE MONTHS INTO MY FIRST EVER JOB.

What @TheNotoriousMMA has done for me money can't buy and that's giving me my independence and chance of being normal. The champ."

The Notorious then added his praise to the young man, writing: "So great to hear this! Incredible progress brother."

It comes as McGregor has kicked off the smack-talk ahead of a wheelchair charity boxing match with comedian and impressionist Al Foran.

Former two-weight UFC champion McGregor is to take on fellow Dubliner Foran in aid of the Irish Wheelchair Association in a fight that was originally scheduled for September.

The 33-year-old is recovering from the broken leg he suffered during his second consecutive defeat to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. back in July

It was originally thought McGregor would fight two months ago in Galway as part of the event hosted by comedian Stevo Timothy. However, he pulled out of that September date on the advice of his doctor.

Taking to Twitter on Sunday, McGregor confirmed that the fight is to go ahead - with the new date yet to be revealed.
