Conor McGregor 'guaranteed' to fight Nate Diaz next instead of Khabib Nurmagomedov

UFC legend Michael Bisping believes Conor McGregor will take on Nate Diaz for a third time in his next fight.

McGregor is weighing up his next opponent after seeing off Donald Cerrone inside 40 seconds on his UFC return on Saturday night.

Shortly before his fight, the Irishman called out four rivals including Khabib Nurmagomedov and his upcoming opponent Tony Ferguson.

McGregor is also plotting a run at the 170lb title held by Kamaru Usman, and the BMF belt held by Jorge Masvidal.

But Bisping believes Diaz is in the frame for his next fight - because Ramadan rules out devout Muslim Khabib.

"I guarantee he fights Nate Diaz next," UFC legend Bisping told ESPN.

“Khabib isn’t going to fight him next, he is going to fight Tony Ferguson on April 18 and he will then have Ramadan.

"So even if beats Tony, he is not going to fight anyone else soon.

“Conor has already teased Diaz and it is good business, the fans and everybody else wants to see it and it makes money. That is what happens, that is my prediction.”

Meanwhile, McGregor's coach John Kavanagh has suggested he has set his sights on a fight Justin Gaethje.

"Justin Gaethje at 170 [pounds]. That would be my personal preference," Kavanagh said when asked about his next opponent.

When pressed why, he added: "Because he's another lightweight. None of them have to cut weight.

"The vision is getting that 155lb belt back so it's a step towards that."
