Conor McGregor greets fellow UFC legend Jon Jones before heavyweight title fight

Conor McGregor made a surprise appearance at the UFC 285 weigh-ins as he greeted Jon Jones before his heavyweight title fight.

Jones, 35, faces Ciryl Gane in the main event of UFC 285 in Las Vegas on Saturday night after spending three years away from the octagon. The consensus greatest MMA fighter of all-time has been preparing for his heavyweight debut since making the last defence of his light-heavyweight title against Dominick Reyes in February 2020, a controversial fight that many fans felt Jones lost.

After facing off against Gane for the final time, Jones greeted McGregor onstage as the Irishman unexpectedly came out following the weigh-ins. The pair shared a brief exchange as McGregor said to the heavyweight title challenger "Go on the boy" with Jones replying: "What's up Conor? Good to see you baby."

McGregor wasn't there just to greet Jones as the Irishman was promoting his upcoming Road House film with Jake Gyllenhaal, which is set to be released later this year. Gyllenhaal was facing off with UFC veteran Jay Hieron as part of one of the scenes in the film and McGregor encouraged the Vegas crowd to be as loud as possible for the movie scene.

"Las Vegas! Who's ready for tomorrow night? We've got the biggest fight in Road House history, Harris versus Dalton UFC 222," McGregor said. "Everyone in this arena, you're about to be part of my movie that's coming out with myself and Jake Gyllenhaal. A Joe Silver production, make sure to cheer for the weigh-ins and let's go Las Vegas."

McGregor unexpectedly came out again after Gyllenhaal stared off with Hieron as he encouraged fans to stay in their seats whilst they reshot the scene. 'Notorious' also confirmed that he will be in attendance at UFC 285 on Saturday to watch the heavyweight title clash between Jones and Gane.

"Guys thank you so much for that weigh-in," McGregor said. "Tomorrow for those with tickets to the fight come earlier to the fight. Jake Dalton and his opponent are making the walk for it, 4pm tomorrow so nice and early. I'm going to be there and the family's going to be there. We're going to do one more take of this weigh-in if you don't mind. Guys get on your feet and let them know, it's an important movie and you're going to be in it. One more take!"
