Conor McGregor goads Tyson Fury over potential fight in foul-mouthed message

Conor McGregor has mocked Tyson Fury, joking that the heavyweight champion "says a lot of things" amid his feuds with UFC heavyweight champions Francis Ngannou and Jon Jones.

The former lightweight and featherweight UFC champion has had an up-and-down relationship with boxing icon Fury over the past few years, at times showing respect while other times taking aim at the fighter. And while he did joke that he "loves" the heavyweight during a recent chat, he also pondered the thought that he may turn his back on a promise to step in the octagon.

Fury is infamous for his grandiose promises, which rarely come to fruition and often times are the exact opposite of what ends up happening. And in 2019, while preparing for his rematch with Deontay Wilder, he explained that he would like to compete in the UFC, subsequently calling out multiple champions including most recently Ngannou and Jones.

But speaking at his Dublin hotspot with Mirror Fighting and other outlets, McGregor mocked Fury's constant slew of promises, saying: "Is Tyson willing to step in the f****g cage or what? He's saying he would, Tyson says a lot of things. I love him, he's a mad, mad thing Tyson. And I'm excited to see him go."

He did admit that Fury would win a boxing match with Ngannou, but noted that the former UFC star would take the victory if they were to fight in a cage. And while chatting with Eddie Hearn amid the media melee, he joked about the prospect of Fury fighting Oleksandr Usyk and the winner of Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder in a big tournament in Saudi Arabia.

"What's the old craic with the old Saudi, is that for real?" McGregor asked Hearn. "With the four? I know you want the fight. Saudi want to do it? Interesting isn't it the Saudis, do you reckon it will happen?" Hearn clapped back by joking that three fighters wanted to do it, intimating that Fury was holding up the deal.

"It's a lot of money," Hearn said, before launching one of his infamous one-liners in the direction of the heavyweight champion. "There's three people that will do it. We'll see what Tyson Fury thinks."
