Conor McGregor finally pays off 15-year debt - but it won't be cashed in

He reckons he will now go on to make billions but Conor McGregor has always had a debt worry hanging over him - and he's never been able to shake it.

Until now that is as he's finally settled up.

But don't worry, he didn't get himself in too deep - and hasn't been caught on the wrong side of the law.

Over 15 years ago he needed to get his hands on £61 to buy some tools.

His day job as a plumber depended on it, and he had to go cap in hand to his former boxing coach Paddy Brady.

Now he's finally got around to paying it back.

Not that the 30-year-old need to worry about his bank account being a bit light when the cheque clears.

McGregor, who is in talks to make a return to UFC later this year, won't be a penny out of pocket as his old pal has no intention on cashing it in.

Brady said: “That’s the money owes me from 15 years ago.

“I got him his tools when he was going off to do his plumbing and he never paid me back.

"Every time I see him I say, ‘Don’t forget you owe me that few bob’."

Gym trainer Phil Sutcliffe said: “It was a joke between a few of us, it was going around the whole club

“We had a picture in the gym of Paddy on Sky television before the Mayweather fight.

“Conor was slagging him and he wrote him a check for 70 quid.

"Now, the check isn’t going to be cashed, it’s going to be photographed with a picture of the two of them and it’s going up on the wall."

It's a further financial boost for him after The Irish Times reported that Proper No. Twelve, the Irish whiskey brand founded by the former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion, is already making mega money.

if early sale projections prove to be accurate, the company will already have brought in around £30million.

Not bad for a few months' work!
