Conor McGregor films butler fetching him water in bizarre Twitter video

Conor McGregor shocked fans after filming himself demanding a bottle of water from a butler.

The Dubliner posted the video to Twitter last night and appeared to be in a plush hotel.

At the beginning of the clip, the former two-weight world champion appears to sniff from a bowl of incense.

A butler then approaches with a tray which has a container with pills in it.

The UFC star takes the pills and asks the butler to fetch him a bottle of water, which he duly does.

The 33-year-old swallows the tablets before holding the bottle of water in the air in expectation as the butler rushes in to collect it.

He then returns to his incense as the strange video ends.

In a follow-up Tweet, he writes: "I told ya’s I have the butler delete all the tweets, I wasn’t joking when I said that ahahaha"

McGregor, who rose from poverty to become the richest sportsman in the world last year, has come in for some criticism over the video.

"My man's using that poor man for a video," one wrote, while another added: "A butler? Why? All the money in the world but I would never have one."

Another fan was simply bemused, asking: "What is this champ?"

Someone else said: "Thank you means nothing when you treat someone like they're they're a slave mate."

Another was disappointed that McGregor had seemingly forgotten his roots, saying: "This is a shocking example shown by Conor. Wasn't long ago Conor was collecting the dole."

Conor, who is currently recuperating from a broken leg he suffered against Dustin Poirier, has been enjoying his downtime, frequenting his Black Force Inn pub in Crumlin.

Mirror Fighting reports that he is due to have a scan on his leg on Monday and aims to return to sparring in April.

He claims he will be put straight into a lightweight title shot on his return to the UFC but that looks unlikely given the fact he has not won at 155lb since 2016.

Champion Charles Oliveira will defend his belt against Justin Gaethje on May 7 and the winner is likely to defend the belt against the winner of Islam Makhachev's rescheduled bout with Beneil Dariush.

McGregor could face the eventual winner, if he can notch a success in his comeback bout.
