Conor McGregor fight news: Notorious backed to fight Mike Tyson

The odds on Conor McGregor fighting Mike Tyson have been slashed following a flurry of bets.

Boylesports have cut the odds on the recently retired UFC star taking on the boxing legend from 50/1 to 10/1 after Tyson mentioned the Dubliner in a interview on The Tonight Show’ with host Jimmy Fallon.

Fallon asked Tyson about a possible bout with McGregor with the American replying: “Mike Tyson vs. Conor McGregor. That dude is nuts. Yeah, but I’d kick his a** anyway!”

The Notorious is also being backed to head to the Aussie jungle and take part in I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here! with those odds plummeting into 5/1 from 50/1.

There are some fans who are having none of his retirement news with a break in the jungle before a fight with Tyson looking more likely to happen judging by the betting activity.

Sarah Kinsella, spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “McGregor was knocked out by Floyd Mayweather in August 2017 and now fans want to see the Irishman return to the ring to fight Mike Tyson.

"Following an interview Tyson had with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, it’s now 10/1 from 50/1 that the sporting stars fight each other by the end of 2022.”

Meanwhile, McGregor is selling the gloves and shorts he wore in his UFC 246 bout with Donald Cerrone.

The Notorious destroyed Cowboy in just 40 seconds back in January and has since announced his retirement from MMA for the third time in four years.

The gloves and shorts are being auctioned off online along with the Irish flag McGregor walked out with in the T Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Anyone interested in purchasing the items are warned they won't come cheap.

At the time of writing, the current bid on the gloves is €18,000, while €3,000 has been put down on the shorts and €2,100 on the tricolour. You can view and bid on the items here.

McGregor posted about the auction: "I've partnered with @fanaticsauthentic to bring to you, my faithful fans, an opportunity to bid on my #UFC246 autographed event-used memorabilia. This auction commemorates the last time I set foot in the octagon, so don’t miss out! The auction is live now so to bid check out the link in the @fanaticsauthentic bio!"

Despite McGregor retiring, Dana White believes a rematch between the Dubliner and Khabib Nurmagomedov could still happen.

The UFC President said: "At the end of the day, the Conor McGregor [rematch], I know Conor has wanted that fight since the last one.

"That's a fight to make, but I don't know. We'll see how this plays out.

"This guy's been great to the company, great to the sport. I like Khabib a lot. I would do anything Khabib wanted to do."

Nurmagomedov is set to defend his lightweight belt against Justin Gaethje later this year.
