Conor McGregor fight news: Notorious backed to beat Paulie Malignaggi in boxing bout by Michael Bisping

Conor McGregor has been backed to beat Paulie Malignaggi in a boxing bout by UFC legend Michael Bisping.

Retired boxer Malignaggi has been keen to set up a fight with McGregor ever since the pair fell out in sparring before McGregor's defeat to Floyd Mayweather in 2017.

Malignaggi works as a TV boxing pundit and again recently expressed interest in a fight with McGregor that would potentially provide a big payday.

Malignaggi, 39, told Boxing Scene: "The Conor McGregor fight always interests me.

"I will gladly do winner takes all the money in that fight. I will put my finances at risk because it will be a pleasure to beat that guy up.

"There would be a lot of money in the pot. I would rather let the winner take it all.

"He's dragged my name too much in the mud. He knows he will get the s*** beat out of him if he tries me.

"Him and I both know that. He gets stopped, 100 per cent, no doubt about it. He can't last the distance in a boxing match.

"People argue that I'm not a big enough name for McGregor. Cerrone is definitely half the name that I am, and that's no shot at him, because he's done a lot in his MMA career.

"I'm a bigger fighter than Cerrone."

Former UFC middleweight champion Bisping sees only one winner if the pair do clash.

McGregor's Straight Blast Gym teammate Artem Lobov beat Malignaggi in a bare-knuckle fight last year.

In response to Malignaggi's comments, Bisping tweeted: "Malinaggi (sic) proved this is definitely incorrect when he lost to Artem. I’d say Conor Ko."
