Daniel Cormier believes there is a possibility that the UFC could scrap Khabib Nurmagomedov's fight with Tony Ferguson to give Conor McGregor a rematch with the Russian.
The Eagle and Ferguson are due to fight at UFC 249 on April 18, but that could be cancelled amid the coronavirus pandemic that has seen the majority of sporting events around the world postponed in recent weeks.
However, UFC President Dana White has insisted the bout will go ahead and is confident that he has found a venue to host it.
But former two-weight champion Cormier believes money could talk and that McGregor could get another shot at Nurmagomedov if the lightweight champ's bout with 'El Cucuy' is cancelled.
Cormier told Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show on ESPN: “No fight makes more money than Khabib vs. Conor.
“And no Tony-Khabib fight, no matter who else is on the card, will make as much money as Khabib-Conor.
”I believe that is a possibility. They may end up doing that, even if the reality is for us, the diehards, I want Khabib vs. Tony. Conor can fight someone else and still make money."
Meanwhile, McGregor has sent a message of support to Italy as the country battles coronavirus.
Italy announced 601 deaths in one day on Monday, bringing the total number of people to have died from Covid-19 in the country to 6,077.
The Notorious says he is "praying daily" for Italy as he paid tribute to the "great nation that brought the world such amazing things".
He posted on Instagram: "I cannot get Italy out of my thoughts. Praying daily for this great nation that brought the world such amazing things. From it’s people and their culture. To it’s architecture and design. Its style! It’s cuisine! It’s art! The list goes on and on and on!
"Italy and it’s people are class personified, through and through. Lord Jesus please save Italy and it’s people today and everyday here forward."
