Conor McGregor's fans have been reacting to the shock news that the Irishman is standing down from the sport of UFC.
McGregor took to Twitter in the early hours of Tuesday morning to make the announcement, writing: "Hey guys quick announcement, I've decided to retire from the sport formally known as 'Mixed Martial Art' today.
"I wish all my old colleagues well going forward in competition. I now join my former partners on this venture, already in retirement. Proper Pina Coladas on me fellas!"
McGregor hasn't stepped into the Octagon since October when he was submitted by lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The Irishman hinted that his next fight was in the pipeline on the Jimmy Fallon show, just hours before his official announcement.
He said: "We're in talks for July. There's a lot of politics going on, it's a mad game, the fight game. To my fans, I am in shape and I am ready."

But then shocked the world with his sudden retirement from the sport.
Fans on social media are understandably disappointed by the news, with many pointing out that McGregor will not get his hotly-anticipated rematch with Khabib nor a trilogy fight with Nate Diaz.

"What the f***?!? You have to fight Khabib first bro," wrote one fan on Twitter, while another added: "Not even the Nate trilogy!"
A third wrote: "We don't get Diaz vs Mcgregor Part 3 or Khabib vs Conor Part 2," and a fourth concluded: "Sadly for McGregor the last image people have of his MMA career is him getting his a*** handed to him by Khabib then getting cheap shot in the back of the head by one of Khabib's teammates."
