Conor McGregor 'eyeing up location for new Dublin bar' as he expands beyond Black Forge Inn

Conor McGregor is reported to be "eyeing up" a new location in Dublin as part of a move towards expanding his pub empire.

The sportsman opened his first bar and restaurant, the Black Forge Inn, in Drimnagh in July.

The premises underwent a million-euro revamp and has been a roaring success since it began trading.

The Notorious is now said to be considering buying another pub but in a very different location.

Upscale Dun Laoghaire is the next area on the UFC star's expansion horizon, according to The Currency news outlet.

The site reports that McGregor "is acquiring one of Dun Laoghaire’s most popular bars", with negotiations to purchase the property said to be at an "advanced" stage.

O’Neill’s, located at the centre of the leafy suburb, is named as the pub being sought.

The bar went on sale in August for €800,000 and has remained on the market since.

According to the listing on Daft.ie: "O'Neill's represents an excellent opportunity to acquire a compact, well-appointed, traditional style licensed premises together with valuable and self-contained lounge/function / restaurant accommodation located adjacent to the principal entertainment and cultural attractions of Dun Laoghaire and affording potential to further develop the existing business which has witnessed year-on-year growth over the past three years."

McGregor purchased The Black Forge Inn for nearly €2 million in 2020 but the pub remained closed until July because of the Covid-19 lockdown.

In December, a successful application was made by new operators, Jemi Ventures Ltd, to transfer the pub licence.

The firm’s director is Alan Geraghty and the company secretary is Dee Devlin, McGregor’s partner.

Along with Devlin, Geraghty is the director of the former UFC champ’s four main businesses in Dublin.

McGregor famously dropped in to visit the pub on one occasion and handed out thousands of euros worth of his Proper 12 whiskey brand to punters.

The whiskey will be a prominent feature in the bar, with Proper 12 cocktails among the "world class" spirits available to visitors.
