Conor McGregor expects to earn £60m from fighting Donald Cerrone at UFC 246

Conor McGregor expects to bank £60million from his UFC return against Donald Cerrone.

The former two-weight world champion has not fought since he was choked out by Khabib Nurmagomedov 15 months ago.

But despite his inactivity - and his fight with Cerrone being a non-title bout - McGregor believes he will earn more than he did for losing to Nurmagomedov.

"It's going to be a good pay cheque," he told ESPN. "Probably the most ever in my mixed martial arts career... I'm estimating a good $80m.

"We have Australia, Canada and England and Ireland... it should be a good one.

"[I made] $50m [against Khabib]. They think I'm toast but I'm still the bread.

"I'll be a billionaire by the time I'm 35."

McGregor is the highest-earning mixed martial artist in history and banked $100m for fighting Floyd Mayweather in 2017.

But he insists no amount of money will drag him away from the fight game.

"For me it's not about money, it's forever money now," he added. "No amount of money will stop my hunger to compete and entertain.

"Too much money without an awareness of it can be dangerous.

"It's a wild game, I'm involved in so many businesses but there is no business like the fight business.

"I've learned some valuable lessons in this that I will use going forward.

"I've got some great people in my life; my coaches, my management and my family of course."

McGregor also predicted he will stop Cerrone - and that it may happen in the opening rounds.

"I'm going to go in there and do what I want and put on a show for the fans.

"Long may the opponents continue to come and I'll continue to knock them down."
