Conor McGregor earned more money per minute competing than any other sports star in the past year

Conor McGregor has earned more money per minute than any other sports star anywhere in the world in the past year.

The Notorious made his UFC return in January, destroying Donald Cerrone in just 40 seconds, before announcing his retirement from MMA for the third time in four years last month.

A study from OLBG found that the Dubliner earned more money competing per minute than any other sports star in the past 12 months and by a huge distance.

McGregor earned €41,053,899 per minute competing based on how much he made from beating Cerrone, with boxers Deontay Wilder (€937,677), Canelo Alvarez (€907,910), Tyson Fury (€750,833) and Anthony Joshua (€540,644) all behind him in the top five.

The other five names in the top ten are all American footballers, while the first soccer player to make the list in Alexis Sanchez in 11th place ahead of Paul Pogba and Neymar in 12 and 13 respectively.

Meanwhile, McGregor has been holidaying in the French Riviera recently and has been mixing with the rich and famous, including the Prince and Princess of Monaco.

McGregor said that he and Princess Charlene, a former Olympic swimmer, were partnering to raise money for water safety awareness.

He wrote: "A Great day racing the water bikes with Princess Charlene of Monaco.

"A phenomenal athlete and Olympian, we are teaming up for a 180km voyage in September to raise awareness in water safety. I cannot wait!

"We will be utilising my training under the McGregor F.A.S.T program to excel on these mounted water bike devices, which are incredibly good!

"It is like Freedom out there! Thank you for the great day for my family Your Highness. In aid of the Princess Charlene of Monaco foundation."

He also posed for a photo with Russian gymnast Karolina Sevastyanova - who won gold at the 2012 London Olympics.
