Conor McGregor drops Celtic bid hint as UFC legend reveals 'conversation' over Dermot Desmond shares

Conor McGregor has revealed he's discussed the possibility of buying Dermot Desmond's shares in Celtic.

The UFC legend admitted last month that he wanted to buy a football team, and suggested it could be Manchester United at the time.

But he's now dropped a big hint that he's interested in buying Celtic and has even been speaking to people about potentially buying his fellow Irishman's shares.

McGregor is unlikely to have the cash to buy the Hoops outright but appears to be interested in being involved at Celtic Park in some capacity.

He feels he could do 'big things' with a football club and told supporters on social media that Celtic are one of the options for him if he decides to invest his cash.

When asked on Twitter about his potential Manchester United bid, he said: “A conversation came up regarding Celtic first to be honest. To acquire shares from Dermot Desmond.

“I am certainly interested in acquiring a sports team at some stage. Both Celtic and Man United are teams I like for sure.

“But I am open. I feel I could do big things for a club.”

McGregor last fought in January when he was knocked out by Dustin Poirier and will face him again in July.

The Irishman has developed a friendship with Kieran Tierney over recent years and congratulated the left back when he moved to Arsenal.
