Conor McGregor details gruelling training regime ahead of Dustin Poirier trilogy fight

Conor McGregor has detailed part of his gruelling training regime ahead of his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier.

The Notorious has been running and cycling in the scorching hot heat in Dubai, where temperatures can reach 40 degrees, ahead of the July 10 bout.

McGregor shared a video of his workout on Instagram, explaining how far he runs and cycles.

He said: "What's up everyone? Welcome to the McGregor Fast triathlon.

"We run 10 kilometres, we cycle 20 kilometres and then we run another 10 kilometres.

"We run twice because we double run the game and we leave out the swimming because we're already swimming in it."

The Dubliner recently turned down an offer from Poirier to switch their trilogy fight from lightweight to welterweight after expressing his interest in facing Kamaru Usman for the 170lbs belt.

McGregor has previously vowed to campaign at 170lb in a bid to add a third belt to his collection but has so far fought only Nate Diaz and Donald Cerrone in the higher weight class.

He reiterated his desire on Sunday, tweeting: "I’m a block at 170 guys. Give me till end of year at this 155 weight. I’ll get the strap and then I’ll go up again."

McGregor vowed to "smack" Usman for "copying his shots" in his victory over Jorge Masvidal at UFC 261.

He posted a clip of him feinting and landing a heavy blow on Dustin Poirier in their January fight and wrote: "Usman even copying my shots now.

"Am I to fight this guy at some stage? I think so.

"Can’t be copying my words and my shots and not get a smack for it. I like 170 [pounds]. It’s mine soon."
