Conor McGregor criticised for "pathetic" reaction to Kamaru Usman KO

Conor McGregor has been told he is desperate for attention after mocking Kamaru Usman 's UFC title loss to Leon Edwards.

Despite being in control for most of the fight, Usman lost his welterweight title at UFC 278 when he was knocked out with less than a minute left against Edwards. McGregor was quick to mock the Nigerian-American for his loss in a series of tweets, writing: "Mi no lika the boi no sleep dem man hahahaha t*** got t****ed," before adding: "Usman gonna come out saying he from Pluto after that smack hahah Marty green pants from Pluto."

Top UFC welterweight Belal Muhammad has slammed McGregor for his tweets, as he said on The Writer vs. The Fighter podcast: "Even Conor McGregor, who knows how it feels to lose in a championship fight, he knows what it feels to lose in front of family. These guys that kick a guy when he's down, it just shows what kind of person they are. They're just looking for that attention. Conor McGregor is looking for that attention, Jake Paul is looking for that attention."

YouTube star Paul also mocked Usman by tweeting a photoshopped picture of him choking out the UFC star. Paul didn't stop there, also posting a video to his Instagram story that showed Usman unconscious with a dummy in his mouth along with the caption. Usman has since assured fans he is in good health after the brutal knockout and is eager to avenge his defeat to Edwards.

Muhammad has previously traded words with McGregor on Twitter, also calling out the Irishman for a fight earlier this year. The top welterweight contender, who fights Sean Brady at UFC 280 in October, thinks both McGregor and Paul will eventually pay for their words, adding: "Karma’s going to come back to you, especially a guy like Conor who hasn't won a fight in five years, all you do is tweet when a big fight is coming on.

"You can have all the money in the world, but you don’t have any attention anymore and that’s what you crave the most. You don’t have anybody screaming your name anymore and that’s what you want the most. It just shows, it’s kind of pathetic where guys are now.” By the time McGregor makes his UFC return in 2023, three years would have passed since his last win in the promotion.
