Conor McGregor could still fight again this year, says UFC chief Dana White

Dana White has not ruled out another fight for Conor McGregor before the end of the year.

The Dubliner broke his tibia and fibula at the end of the first round of his trilogy fight with Dustin Porier in July.

It was a horror injury that looked set to sideline the Notorious for the rest of the year at a minimum.

But UFC chief Dana White has given an encouraging update on McGregor's condition.

Speaking to the Australian Daily Telegraph, he said: "Conor seems to be healing up pretty well. The question is: When can he start kicking again?

"If he could take kicks, then he'd be looking at a fight before the end of the year again, so it all depends on how fast that leg heals."

It comes after McGregor himself sounded a optimistic tone when he attended the MTV Music Video Awards in New York.

Speaking to Adam Glyn, the 33-year-old said: "I feel like I could kick right now. I honestly feel like I could kick right now. But I've just got to listen to the doctors and listen to the people that guided me, that's what I've done so far.

"I've committed myself to the work. I'm back on the feet. It feels so good to be back on the feet."
