Conor McGregor has dropped his rivalry with fellow UFC lightweight Paul Felder, congratulating the American on his retirement from the sport over the weekend.
The Irishman had an understated feud with Felder, despite the pair never having a fight scheduled or publicly engaging in much of a back-and-forth.
But McGregor shocked fans by drawing attention to the former fighter who was on commentary after his defeat of Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone early last year.
He included 'mouthy fool on the desk' Felder specifically in his callout of the entire light and welterweight divisions, despite Jorge Masvidal and Kamaru Usman being in attendance.
But the pair appear to have made up, as McGregor took to twitter to congratulate him on his retirement, which was announced at UFC Vegas 27 on Saturday night.
The former two-weight champion tweeted: "Congrats to the “Irish Dragon” Paul Felder on his retirement! Proper Pina Colada on me fella! #Respect."
McGregor has previously indicated that he didn't like the American using the nickname 'Irish Dragon' during his six-year-long UFC career.
Explaining his reasons for retiring, Felder said: "I always said if I don't see that title picture a year or so into my future, I would retire and I would do it for my friends, family and myself. I'm 37 years old and I feel very fresh.
"I love the UFC with all my heart for everything they've given me and the opportunity they've given me [to become a commentator]. I'm retiring officially from the sport of mixed martial arts."
UFC boss Dana White also congratulated Felder on his career, saying: “Yeah he’s had an incredible career here and now he’s starting, well I shouldn’t say starting, but, he really is starting his new career after fighting.
"He’s a great commentator. He’s done an amazing job here and I am happy for him. Congrats on what he has done for us in the past and I look forward to working with him in the future."
Felder had previously joked that he would change his nickname to the German Dragon to appease McGregor if it mean earning a big money fight with the Irishman.
McGregor added to his post-fight comments from UFC 246 when he branded Felder a 'ginger German t***' in a tweet where he poked fun at his family name being German-English, not Irish in any way.
But the pair never got to meet, and after Felder lost to Rafael Dos Anjos in a last minute fight last year, he decided to finish his career before picking up any further injuries.
Felder has talked about the feud before, telling reporters earlier this year: "It's silly and he has poked fun at me on social media.
"I think he's just f***ing with me, to be honest with you. He's like that. He's not an idiot man. He'll poke at anybody in case you climb the ranks and you're next."
