Conor McGregor charges reduced for Miami phone incident - but he still faces up to six years in jail

Conor McGregor could still face a maximum of six years in prison for an incident which saw him arrested in Miami last month, despite charges being reduced for the altercation.

The Notorious 30-year-old was arrested in Miami and charged with one count of strong-arm robbery and one count of criminal mischief after allegedly slapping away and stomping on a fan’s phone.

However, according to USA Today , prosecutors have since reduced the charges, lowering the degree of one felony charge, and converting the other to a misdemeanour.

The felony criminal mischief charge has been reduced to just a misdemeanour after the supposed value of the phone went from $1000 to “between $200 and $1000.”

And his 'strong-armed robbery' charge has been changed from a second-degree felony to “robbery by sudden snatching,” which is a third-degree felony.

McGregor’s immigration status could also be affected if he is convicted, and he may have trouble entering the US for any future fights or business ventures.

The alleged victim also filed a civil lawsuit against McGregor, who recently has teased a return to the octagon after announcing his retirement.
