Conor McGregor calls on government to lift Covid-19 restrictions on May 5

Conor McGregor continues to post advice to the government on Covid-19 measures and has asked that some restrictions be lifted.

The government is set to review restrictions and make an announcement on any potential changes to the current lockdown measures on May 5

Taking to Twitter, McGregor said: "Release the 2km restriction May 5th. Keep enforcement tight on any and all congregated groups.

"Reopen all businesses that can operate under new safety measures. Which is most. Where there’s a will there’s a way.

"Only so long our hands can be held before we must go it solo!

He added: "I shouted for 5 full weeks (for lockdown), 5 full weeks ago. The numbers of deaths have dropped. As well as infected cases. The public have been exceptional!

"The government, bar a few slip ups (ports open/up north free to roam) have also been as good as can be asked.

"It’s time now to test! Truly exceptional our people have been!

"Within a weekend, we got the message and acted upon it! Incredibly motivating for the future of our country."

The Dublin fight star's 'address to the nation' went viral last month and prompted Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe to message McGregor.

The 31-year-old has also made major donations of personal protective equipment for healthcare workers battling Covid-19 on the frontline.
