Conor McGregor blocks Paul McGrath on Twitter as row over PJ Gallagher tweet continues

Conor McGregor has blocked Paul McGrath on Twitter as a social media row between the UFC star and the Republic of Ireland football legend continues.

McGrath called the former two-weight champion a 'bully' after McGregor commented on PJ Gallagher's well publicised mental health issues in a series of social media posts.

The argument appears to have started when Gallagher shared a video of an American TV presenter calling McGregor British, with the comedian saying: "Normally this kind of thing winds me up but they can have this lad."

Tweeting over the weekend, McGregor said: “@pjgallagher you sad little pox of a thing.

“Sit up and smile for a change will you, you sad c*** hahaha wife left you an all and your crying in the paper bout depression, posture like a prawn.

“Sad b******. I am Ireland. There’s blood on my flag useesoo”.

McGregor's tweet was slammed by numerous people online, including McGrath.

The footballing great wrote: "PJ take no notice of bullies, you’re loved by everyone.

"Whatever you do don’t let him get the better of ya pal. Stay well. Top Man. @pjgallagher @TheNotoriousMMA."

McGrath later commented: "Conor you need to find GOD and when you do knock on my door I will have the kettle on for ya… my good friend."

That prompted McGregor to then take aim at McGrath in a series of tweets, in which he referred to the 63-year-old as 'English'.

He added: "If someone comes at me I am going to fire back.

"What don't you get? I didn't start any of this.

"It was me being bullied originally. Yet you come online to call me a bully.

"Leave me alone. Bullies the lot of ya's! I have mental health too!"

McGregor later added: "Irish and proud whether they like it or not!"

Sharing a snap on his Instagram story on Monday which showed McGregor has blocked him on Twitter, McGrath wrote: "Christmas ruined."
