Conor McGregor blasts 'shocking' Dustin Poirier after Charles Oliveira loss

Conor McGregor has labelled Dustin Poirier's loss to Charles Oliveira 'shocking' after his rival failed in his UFC lightweight title bid.

The Diamond was submitted by the reigning champ in their UFC 269 main event as McGregor slammed his bitter rival's 'embarrassing' performance during the fight.

Poirier tapped to a standing rear-naked choke in the third round as Oliveira marches on, paving the way to a 2022 title fight against Justin Gaethje.

And after Nate Diaz slammed Poirier in the aftermath, McGregor weighed in on the loss.

Replying to Diaz questioning how he had lost to Poirier, McGregor said: "You lanky string of p***; he got lumped around and got lucky twice. That’s it, is what it is.

"[This was an] embarrassing night for him alright. That closed guard game. Wtf was that. Wow! Shocking."

Oliveira's first title defence came after Amanda Nunes lost her bantamweight crown in what has already been branded as one of the biggest upsets in UFC history.

She was choked out by Julianna Pena in the second round of their bout.

"I’m not surprised motherf******!" Pena shouted following her win. “I told you; don’t ever doubt me again.

"Will power strength and determination. It will take you places. I definitely expected a win and the world is my oyster."
