Conor McGregor attacks rival Khabib by taking aim at UFC legend's dad and wife

Conor McGregor has taken aim at rival Khabib Nurmagomedov by once again bringing his wife, children and deceased father into their war of words.

The legendary former two-weight world champion has had a number of major feuds during his UFC tenure, but none are more bitter than his rivalry with Nurmagomedov. The pair fought in 2018 at UFC 229 in the biggest fight in the sport's history, but there was never a handshake after the bout and they are still enemies to this day.

And in his latest tweet-and-delete attack, McGregor went after the former lightweight champion in a series of posts, most of which were taken down. The Irishman went on a verbal rampage on Wednesday night, including taking shots at Joe Rogan, and while some posts surprisingly stayed up, he removed ones mocking Nurmagomedov's family.

"Peek a boo number 2 or I smell poo," McGregor wrote in a bizarre message. "You absolute bottler. Your da gonna open hand slap you when you meet again. You are not free yet. Free is being able to stay in the mountains of Dagestan with your family. Instead you are in hotel rooms. Your kids and wife home alone. Wake up."

He had indicated that he would like to have a rematch with the Russian in one message, which is still live on his Twitter page. But in another post, now deleted, he back-tracked on the idea, and again made mention of his father Abdulmanap, who was a famed coach in Dagestan until his passing in 2020.

"Actually you know what I don’t want to fight the smellbag," McGregor wrote. "There are way better fights out there but let it be known the biggest wet the bed in fighting history is what this guy is. Think of the magnitude this fight wound have. Absolute bottler you are. Father gonna slap you 100 per cent."

The Irishman was rewatching his fight with Nurmagomedov, which he lost by fourth round submission, last night, and took aim at commentator Joe Rogan for his take on an illegal tactic he used during the bout. While on the ground as Nurmagomedov was on the attack, McGregor hit him with a knee from his back, which is technically not allowed due to his opponent being on the ground too.

"I call this knee strike 'the Springbok' Remember Reebok? Yeah well this is Springbok," McGregor said in one message, discussing the illegal move. "You ever see a springbok jump? Well just have a look at that knee, springbok into his eye socket haha. I’m the greatest of all-time at unseen shots. That’s without question. God bless the dead."

He later added a photo of a springbok leaping from the ground with the caption: "This is a springbok, I’m just after making them. Springboks are made now yeah."
