Conor McGregor assault victim breaks silence after being barred from star's pub

The man sucker-punched by Conor McGregor in a bar the UFC star now owns has shrugged off being barred from the pub.

McGregor pleaded guilty to assaulting 50-year-old Dubliner Desmond Keogh in April 2019 when he refused a shot of whiskey/

McGregor was fined €1,000 but last week confirmed he has bought the Marble Arch pub for a reported sum of up to £2million.

The Irishman tweeted that Mr. Keogh was now barred from the establishment.

But speaking to the Irish Mirror, the patron said: “I’m not really concerned because I probably wouldn’t be going back to it now.

“I wouldn't be going back anyway, probably especially now. I wouldn’t want to be spending money in his pub to be honest.

“I didn’t really make much of it. It’s no skin off my nose really.

“I’ve a lot of friends there. I probably drank there for about 14 years.

“The fact that he was in the wrong you know why blame me? It seems weird to me. It's disingenuous."

The incident was captured on CCTV and showed McGregor offering Mr Keogh a shot of his Proper 12 whiskey, which the customer declined.

McGregor then punched his victim before leaving the pub.

“The past is in the past. It's all done and dusted two years ago this month," added Mr. Keogh. “He had to go to court and he pleaded guilty.

“I thought he might have got a bigger fine from the court, that’s all."

McGregor, who is worth more than £100m, now owns two pubs after he purchased The Black Forge near his hometown of Crumlin.

The Irishman has also sold the bulk of his whiskey business in recent months having launched it following his defeat by Floyd Mayweather in 2017.

McGregor is currently preparing for his third fight with Dustin Poirier in July having lost the rivals' rematch in January.
