Conor McGregor and Eddie Hearn hold crunch talks over major change to Katie Taylor fight

Conor McGregor has vowed to "support" Katie Taylor's homecoming fight after holding crunch talks with Eddie Hearn in Dublin over his potential involvement in the May 20 bout.

Taylor will rematch Amanda Serrano in the biggest women's boxing fight of all time, and Hearn is hopeful that McGregor might provide the funding to land the bout in 80,000-capacity Croke Park, and not the 13,000-seat 3Arena. Taylor and Serrano sold out Madison Square Garden last April for their historic meeting, with the rematch now set for Dublin.

However, Hearn scoffed at Croke Park's running costs, which he estimated as being three-times more than if he were to bring the bout to Wembley Stadium. McGregor then took to social media to offer his support, with the pair agreeing to meet at the UFC legend's Dublin hotspot The Black Forge Inn this afternoon.

Hearn arrived along with Matchroom Boxing CEO Frank Smith at 4.30pm, and was joined 40 minutes later by McGregor, who told Mirror Fighting " we'll see what happens" when asked if he feels a deal will be reached today.

After the meeting, he confirmed that he will be actively "supporting" the bout. Asked how the meeting went, he responded: "Very well, it's looking good, we're going to support the show and it's looking good." When pushed on when news will come out of the details regarding his deal with Hearn, McGregor added: "As soon as it's done."

The Irishman took photos and fist bumped with fans as he arrived at the pub in a Rolls Royce, and Hearn was also spotted posing for photos with staff inside the pub.

The group sat in a back corner table, not McGregor's private 'Bentley Room', and could be heard loudly laughing as they enjoyed a meal and glasses of the Irishman's Proper Twelve whiskey. Mirror Fighting understands that the meeting was a last-gasp effort, and that the 3Arena is all but guaranteed for the May 20 date.

Hearn left after a relatively short meeting, while McGregor stayed to enjoy his final night at home with friends before leaving to film the new season of The Ultimate Fighter in Las Vegas tomorrow. He spent hours dancing and chatting with fans as well as posing for pictures, before leaving at around 7.30pm.
