Conor McGregor has accepted a fight offer from the UFC to face Dustin Poirier on January 23.
The Notorious had expressed his desire to fight again before the end of the year, but his Octagon return will now come in early 2021, almost exactly a year since his 40-second demolition of Donald Cerrone.
McGregor has stated that he would like the bout to take place at the 80,000 seater AT&T Stadium in Texas, which is home to the the Dallas Cowboys, before facing Manny Pacquiao in a boxing bout later next year.
The Dubliner tweeted: "I accept, Jan 23rd is on! My goal is to see this fight take place in Cowboy stadium. Proper Style!
"Jerry Jones is a friend and the stadium can hold our crowd. I will be ready for Texas and Texas will be ready for my fans! Then Manny."
The announcement comes just four months after the former two-weight champion claimed to have retired from MMA for the third time in four years.
Dana White revealed on Wednesday that McGregor had been offered the date of January 23 for the bout and told him it was "a yes or no answer".
The UFC President told ESPN: "We offered him a fight, we got him his own date. We didn’t have a date this year. We have everything laid out for this year, with world champions fighting for titles.
"He wants to fight Dustin Poirier apparently, so we went to [broadcast partner] ESPN and got him his own date.
"He’s been offered Dustin Poirier on Jan. 23. It’s a yes or no answer."
