Conor Gallagher not pondering Chelsea future as he looks to impress on England duty in Nations League

Conor Gallagher insists he is fully focused on England’s upcoming Nations League games and not his Chelsea future.

Gallagher spent last season on loan at Crystal Palace and excelled for the Eagles to the extent that he was also handed his senior England debut.

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has confirmed the club would love to keep the midfielder, most likely on loan for another season, and Gallagher is due to have talks with Chelsea over his future.

But until then, the 22-year-old insists he is focused on performing for England as they prepare for a gruelling run of four Nations League games in two weeks.

“I have not really had time to think about it to be honest,” Gallagher told BBC Radio 5 Live when asked about his future. “The long season at Palace has only just finished really and then I have come here with England.

“I am going to be honest that’s all I am thinking about, the next four games here. I want to do well. I have not really thought about it.”

Gallagher has been loaned out repeatedly by Chelsea, with his time at Palace representing the fourth loan stint of his career so far.

Asked if that run of loan spells could now be over, the midfielder said: “I don’t know to be honest with you.

“The loans have been brilliant to be honest. Every loan team I have been at has been an amazing experience and to meet all the new players, guys, staff and managers.

“It has all helped me progress and develop as player, so I have loved it. Like I said, I am not sure. These four [England] games are all I am thinking about right now.”
