Conor Coady makes Liverpool title claim and gives insight on beating Manchester City

Conor Coady was a popular man in Liverpool last weekend after his Wolves side beat Manchester City 2-0.

The midfielder grew up in the city and came through the Reds' academy before leaving in 2014.

Coady's family are all Liverpool fans and his younger brother was spotted celebrating in the Wolves away end during the victory at the Etihad.

Speaking on Soccer AM this morning, Coady talked up Liverpool's title credentials but insisted he looks forward to playing against his former side.

"It's a weird feeling, when I play against them I want to win more than ever. I don't know why that is I just do," said Coady.

"I know it's early doors, but I think with Liverpool this year they don't seem to be panicking.

"People are talking abut them conceding and not keeping clean sheets but when they do they think it's okay cause we can score another. City seemed like that last year.

"With Liverpool they missed out on the Champions League the year before and then they kick on again because the manager is that good.

"I don't want to speak too soon but they look to be going [up] again which is so good to see for them."

The 26-year-old also revealed how Wolves used their game plan to beat Man City.

It was first time the Champions had lost at home since December 2018.

"We've got a way of playing and we stuck to it. Stay in shape and be organised.

"The biggest thing about it is we never change the way we do things.

"We said before the game to be brave and every time the ball goes back try and get up because I think the more they pin you back and it's on the edge of your own box it's a matter of time with Manchester City they're that good.

"Be quick when we counter. We've got fast players so when we counter be as quick as we possibly can and the boys were fantastic."

Coady's brother Harrison was also in the Soccer AM studio but said it was "family first" when asked if he was more happy at Wolves' result for his brother or Liverpool.
