Conor Coady issues warning to Wolves team-mates ahead of weekend clash with Leeds United

Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Conor Coady believes his side must be on the top of their game to get a result against Leeds United despite the Whites’ slow start to the season.

Leeds sit just one place above the relegation places in the Premier League after picking up just six points in their opening eight matches.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side have won just one of their four home games this season, too, although that did come in their previous fixture at Elland Road when they defeated Watford 1-0 before the international break.

Wolves, on the other hand, are set to come into Saturday’s fixture in good form with four wins in their last five games.

Bruno Lage, who replaced the outgoing Nuno Espirito Santo in the summer, lost all of his first three matches in charge but has since turned it around.

The West Midlands side completed a league double over Leeds last season, winning 1-0 in both matches, although Bielsa’s men will be coming up against a different beast this weekend following their transformation in style.

However, despite their resurgence in recent weeks, Coady believes that Wolves are yet to hit the heights expected of themselves so far this season and claims they must be ready for the challenge Leeds will pose on Saturday.

Speaking to talkSPORT, via the Birmingham Mail, he said: "I don’t think we’ve hit the majestic heights that we want to hit. We always want to improve.

"We’re targeting to put in the best performance we can to win the game.

"We know how good Leeds have been over the last few years, they’ve got their own way of playing and we’ve got to get our heads round that because it’s such a tough way to play against."
