Conor Benn needed just 82 seconds to stop Samuel Vargas back in April
(Picture: Dave Thompson Matchroom Boxing)Conor Benn makes his eagerly awaited return to the ring in Leeds tonight.
‘The Destroyer’ was originally supposed to face Adrian Granados as the initial headline act of Matchroom’s Fight Camp 2 earlier this summer, only for that bout to be postponed after he tested positive for Covid-19.
But now Benn - son of former two-weight world champion Nigel Benn - is raring to go and eager to build on his devastating, explosive 82-second destruction of Samuel Vargas in April.
The 24-year-old will be looking for a similarly emphatic display against journeyman American Granados this evening as he once again defends his WBA continental title at Headingley Stadium and attempts to issue another significant statement to keep rising up the welterweight ranks.
Benn’s latest bout is on the same stacked card as Josh Warrington’s rematch against Mauricio Lara and Katie Taylor’s undisputed lightweight title defence against Jennifer Han.
How to watch Benn vs Granados
Tonight’s event is being broadcast live by sport streaming service DAZN, who agreed a five-year deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing earlier this summer.
Coverage of the early prelim fights begins at 4:50pm BST, with the main card taking place from 7pm and ring walks for the main event expected from 10pm.
Benn and Granados are expected in the ring before 9pm, though that will obviously depend on the length of the other undercard bouts.
