Queen of the South hit-man Connor Shields has signed for Motherwell as their first signing of the summer.
Record Sport previously revealed that Dundee United, newly promoted Dundee and the Steelmen were all keen on the former Sunderland striker.
However, Graham Alexander 's side have won the race for his signature as part of a massive rebuild at Fir Park.
Shields has bagged 11 goals in the Scottish Championship this term during his one year at Palmerston.
The 23-year-old started his career at Albion Rovers before his impressive performances earned him a move south of the border to The Black Cats.
He then moved to Aldershot in the conference before returning north of the border as a stand-out for Allan Johnston's men this season.
Alexander told the club website: “We’re very happy to bring Connor in to start our rebuilding for next season.
“He’s had a great year scoring goals in the Championship and we believe he has the potential to do the same in the top flight.
“He’s quick, works incredibly hard and is hungry to prove himself at a higher level.
“He now has that opportunity and we’re really looking forward to working with him.”
